Project Goals

Redesigning a fun and more controllable aircraft, the (P-51) Midget Mustang

The Midget Mustang Project at SJSU encompasses many aspects of engineering, especially Aircraft Design. We will be using the tools and knowledge at our disposal to redesign a plane previously deemed by its builder to be unsafe and not airworthy. While many pilots fly these planes, we set out to engineer a plane that not only performs better, but one that is more stable and easier to fly for all levels of pilot.

Update Section

New Configuration

Following our critical design review, we have made a physical goal for the look and flight characterstics of the plane. We have dropped the flaps and increased aileron area, as seen here.

Solid Modeling

We have entered a new phase for our project where parts will be modeled and simulations will be ran as iterations are performed.

Here we hope to upload CAD files so our viewers (with proper software) may view current designs.
